Dran’s Birthday Celebration in Black and White

We celebrated my good buddy’s 33rd birthday recently. This guy is my brother from another mother, we grew up together and been tight for over 20 years now.

We celebrated his birthday at Barleymash located in the Gaslamp Quarters in Downtown San Diego.

I’ve always been interested in taking photos at local bars and nightclubs to try and imitate the black and white photos I see in marketing ads like Levi’s or T-Mobile. This is my attempt and I like how some of them turned out.

I’ll definitely try this again when the opportunity comes.

Initial Post

Hey everybody!

This is my initial post on a blog that I hope you will enjoy. My name is Rommel, an aspiring photographer still trying to find my niche.

Photography has been a hobby of mine since the day I picked up my first digital camera, a Nikon D3000, about five years ago. Over time, photography has become some sort of a passion I never knew I had. I’ve been meaning to start a blog to showcase what I shoot, what I’ve learned about photography and what I think is interesting. Fortunately, and unfortunately, academics were in the way. I work in the IT field by trade with a bachelors degree in Information Technology Management, but on my free time, I try to photograph anything and everything as I bring my camera everywhere I go.
